HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

This course provides a basic working knowledge of the Hazardous Materials and applicable parts of 49CFR when handling, preparing, and transporting dangerous goods.

Topics Covered:

VEHICLE INSPECTION (Pre-Trip/Post Trip)

Vehicle Inspection (Pre-Trip/Post Trip): This course focuses on what is important to every driver, the beginning of a safe trip. The condition of the vehicle (making sure it is road worthy) is the most important factor in a trip and can drastically affect the safety of the driver and the general public. The driver will go through a rigorous training which will cover all the elements of a pre-trip. The CDL Pre-trip inspection requirements will be used as the basis for this course.

  • The driver will develop techniques that will be used to perform a complete Pre-trip inspection.
  • This course provides accurate up-to-date knowledge, skills and techniques, real world scenarios and hands-on training.

CERTIFIED BRAKE TRAINING

Improperly adjusted brakes (one of the highest ranked violations noted) can cause you to strand equipment at roadside inspections and ports of entry. Every CDL driver needs to be able to correctly perform brake inspections and field adjustments. Drivers are required to be responsible for the safe operation of their vehicles yet too often are not.

This Course Covers:
  • Brake system operations and components.
  • Brake inspection.
  • Brake wear surface inspection.
  • Brake line inspection and condition evaluation.
  • Brake System condensation and removal.
  • This course provides classroom and hands-on training. Don’t become complacent and depend on “automatic slack adjusters” and mechanics when it’s so easy to do it yourself!
